The Beach, Italy 10th -12th May 2008

Day 1 - Lavagna, Cavi and Sestri Levante
Finally time to relax in the sun away from Lausanne. After an early start and easy drive on the Italian autostrada we arrived on the Ligurian coast for a long weekend on the beach. This was Felix's first outing to the beach and it was not a happy experience. Five hours of driving, hot sand, small pebbles, freezing water and sand and sun screen in the eyes.

Felix did not move from this towel for 30 minutes. Not bad for a boy who normally can't sit still.

More sand in the eyes.

Aasta in the small town of Sestri Levante. Nice pizza and beach.

You don't know how nice it is to wear a t-shirt.

The boats on the sand.

The boats on the water.

The end of day 1.

Day 2 - Cinque Terre and Monterosso al Mare.
We drove for 45 minutes from the hotel to the famous coastal region of Cinque Terre.

Monterosso al Mare from the windy road leading down to the town. Photo taken 5 minutes before we needed to help Felix clean-up an accident with his breakfast.

Day 3 Santa Margherita Ligure and Genoa
If I win the lotto I'll buy a house in Santa Margherita and rub shoulders with the rich and famous.

Back over the boarder and nearly home.

Servion Zoo, 3rd May 2008

Another sunny day and a perfect time for Felix to make his first trip to the zoo. No oliphaunts but there were lions and tigers and wolves and bears.

More bears. Felix can't get enough of bears.

The bears having a spa in a rare moment of calm. The rest of the time the big one chased the small one.

Even a lion.

The monkeys spoiling for a fight with the monkeys next door.

One cheeky monkey escaping from the cage.

Why is there a chook at the zoo?

Berne (The Bears!!!), 2nd May 2008

On a sunny Friday we visited Berne which for a capital city is a very small place. The main reason for coming here was to see the bears who are protecting the city.  Berne is a very beautiful city and it was lovely to walk around on the cobblestones in the sun.

We never get tired of looking at the Alps.

Berne from the top of the Berner Münster spire.

Ahhh...my eyes. Zeese goggles do nothing.

Outside the Berner Münster and the Last Judgement.

Finally the bears!!! They're not doing much city protecting down in that pit.

Signal de Bougy, 27th April 2008

Mum's back from Australia and we are back again to the park Signal de Bougy.

Whoo...look at all the colours man.

Thank God Mum's home.

Hello!!!

Carnival de Lausanne, 20th April 2008

Lots of fun in the cold (cold again!!! what happened to summer?) at Lausanne's annual carnival.

Felix looks bored but trust me he did enjoy it.
